Data Collection
OffGrid Connect does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to external servers. The application operates entirely on your local WiFi network. There are no accounts, no cloud storage, and no telemetry of any kind.
Local Communication
All communication between paired devices occurs exclusively over your local WiFi network using direct peer-to-peer TCP connections. This includes status sharing, text and voice messages, read receipts, presence status, and profile updates. No data is ever sent to the internet.
Encryption
All communication is encrypted end-to-end using ECDH key exchange (P-256 curve) and AES-256-GCM for all messages, status updates, and voice recordings. Encryption keys are stored in platform secure storage (iOS Keychain, Android Keystore, Windows Credential Manager). The local database is encrypted.
Local Data Storage
Your nickname, status history, chat messages, voice recordings, and app preferences are stored locally on your device and never transmitted to external servers. You can delete all local data at any time from Settings.
Microphone Access
Microphone access is used solely for recording voice messages. Audio is recorded locally, encrypted, and sent directly to the paired recipient over your local network.
Third-Party Services
This application does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. No data is shared with any third party. When you download from an app store, the platform provider may collect data as described in their respective privacy policies.
Children’s Privacy
This application is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not collect any data.
